Macabre discovery in Brazil: 512 penguins were found dead on a beach

Marine biologists and veterinarians in Brazil last week found more than 500 corpses pinguni on beaches in southern Brazil, in Rio Grande do Sul State.

Center for Maritime and Coastal Studies of Brazil announced that it has launched an investigation to determine the cause of death of these penguins and will announce the results in about 30 days.    Biologists at the center told the Brazilian newspaper G1 that penguins migrated north, traveling from Argentina to find food in warmer waters.

“The animals did not seem exhausted, and oil stain had not seemed well fed, so it needs a more detailed analysis to determine why penguins have died,” said a Brazilian official.

I always wrdeeond about this one:If a truck carrying canaries (1 ton of) is 1/2 a ton too heavy for a bridge, if the driver upsets all the canaries so that they fly about instead of perching in thier transport boxes, will the truck be light enough to cross?I think the confusion on the plane-treadmil thing is to with how people conceptualise it’s movement. They are being confused by the idea of the engines thrust, rather than how a car moves. Simple fact is, even with the engine thrusting against the air, if the plane has 0 forward motion then there will be 0 air flow and hence 0 lift, regardless of it being the engines and not the wheels that power it forwards. It’s not moving relative to the air it is in (given a perfect treadmil and ) friction wheels etc). Can you tell I should be doing homework?Neko out
