According to a study by a team of American paleontologists, towering peaks of the heads and backs of dinosaurs, were developed with one goal. Namely to make the dinosaurs as sexually attractive to their mate.Pterozaurilor were flying reptiles such impressive growth, whose purpose was to attract potential partners, while males had pelycozaurii huge growths on the back, similar role to attract females.
Role ridges and growths found in dinosaur fossils was, for a long time, extremely controversial. Some paleontologists claimed that ridges role was solely to regulate body temperature of ancient giant creatures.
But recent research has shown that scaly growths and ridges were too large to serve as organs for termoreglarii body.
Contrary to earlier theories, the peaks were in fact an important role in sexual competition. In other words, as large peaks of males attracted more females, they felt instinctively that a male with a copy crest is developed healthy, vigorous and with a perfect genetic. For this reason, the peaks became higher in the over generations, some species reaching pterozauri present increases that were five times higher than their heads.
