“Collective brain” helped people to realize all the great inventions

75,000 years ago, people have developed a kind of “super-collective intelligence”, which has made significant contributions to technological progress of humanity, says a researcher.

Transition to a collective mind allowed the emergence of a potentially infinite number of concepts, thoughts, concepts, giving people the ability to reflect, for the first time, the new and inventions.

Without this change, said John Hoffecker, an archaeologist at the University of Colorado, USA, major technical achievements, to watch the space shuttle, it would have been, with high probability, invented. It is doubtful that without this feature, people would become creatures “industrialized”, obsessed with technology, which is today.

The researcher believes that the first signs of such changes have occurred about ago. 1.6 million years, when people first started making stone axes.
This reflects a “design concept” stored in nerve cells of the brain and translated into stone and seem to be born a strong relationship based on mutual conditioning between hands, eyes, brain and the tools themselves.
Then, 75,000 years ago in Africa, the pace of change has accelerated and began forming “collective mind”. People were able to find a way to share each other complicated ideas.

40,000 years ago began to produce works of decorative art and 30,000 years ago – the first musical instruments.
With the advent of symbols and language, communication tools, for expressing thoughts, said Hoffecker, and subsequent integration of the brain in a super-brain, the human mind seems to have become a creative force with endless possibilities.

Individual brains within a social group have been integrated into a kind of neurological Internet and communication has become one of the engines of progress.
One of the supporters of this theory is Stephen Hawking, who said it was time “to adopt a broader perspective and consider the external transmission of information, along with DNA, as a factor in evolution.”
